This vintage steamer trunk was purchased at an estate sale a few years ago,
and while it was in rough condition, it had possibilities, and provenance!
In the late 1800's, a young woman from Eastern Europe came alone to the United States.
All she owned was in this trunk that accompanied her to a new life.
She settled in New York, became a seamstress and eventually met and married a miner and started a family.
This trunk moved with them and remained in the family through the next generations.
