CAPACITIES
Lubrication
and capacity data for all 1941 Chevrolet models
COOLING
SYSTEM (WITHOUT HEATER)
-
14 quarts
-
I recommend
a good grade of antifreeze mixed 50/50 with distilled water
FUEL
TANK
CRANKCASE
-
5 quarts
(without oil filter)
-
6 quarts
(with oil filter)
-
grade
of oil: I recommend a good 30w or a
10-30w for most driving
conditions and temperatures
TRANSMISSION
-
1 1/2
pints of 90w all purpose gear oil
DIFFERENTIAL
-
3 1/2
pints of 90w all purpose gear oil
STEERING
GEARBOX
-
Do not
use standard 90w gear oil, this is too thin and will leak on to the
pitman
arm bushings and destroy them. Chassis grease is too thick and will not
lubricate properly. Penrite (available on Ebay) is designed
specifically
for these older steering gearboxes. Many owners have also had luck
using
STP, which is very thick and has good lubricating properties.
