Tune Up Specifications

The specifications listed below are for all 1941 passenger car models, unless noted otherwise...

SPARK PLUGS

• AC-104, 10 millimeter size
• Gap .040 inch

• .022 inch

• 31 -37 degrees (note: for satisfactory performance, cam angle may be set within the range given provided the breaker gap is as shown)

• 153624

• steel ball in flywheel

• negative

• 350 RPM

• 75 - 80 foot pounds

• 3/4 - 1 inch (note: check this free travel with one finger on the pedal and not with the foot as this adjustment is very sensitive)

MINOR TUNE UP

• Check battery electrolyte level (note: use distilled water)
• Inspect battery terminals and cables
• Inspect primary wires and ignition switch
• Clean coil and terminal socket
• Inspect distributor for proper function of vacuum and centrifugal advance
• Clean and adjust distributor contact points, lubricate cam wick and rubbing block
• Reset ignition timing
• Inspect and clean distributor cap and rotor
• Inspect ignition cables
• Clean and adjust spark plugs, or install new plugs if required
• Clean fuel strainer and filters
• Inspect and lubricate manifold heat control
• Clean and/or refill air cleaner
• Adjust carburetor
• Inspect and adjust fan belt
• Inspect water pump, radiator and car heater hose connections, and radiator antifreeze level
• Test performance after tune up
